On this earth on which we exist, change remains constant. There has been a lot of cultural change over the past decade. The civilian workforce is employed to assist sworn authorities from the local authority to the police authority. There are a lot of issues that need more attention collectively by involving everyone and carrying them along. No man is an island, and everyone possesses exceptional skills needed in policing, like forensic, intelligence analysis, and research.

The safety of lives is paramount. We all need to come together to contribute positively with the best approach to life and governance. When we value our patriotism and loyalty to the nations we represent, we face social responsibilities. Our focus has to be on the growth and well-being of the people and their respective communities.

The advancement of changes in our society has married the condition of globalisation. Social and security structures or architecture keep adopting flexibilities to protect lives. The vulnerability of people in a community exposed to sanctions that can hamper their safety cannot be controlled by those trained to police and safeguard them. It can be appreciated if there are standing guidelines that are available by the community. Most times, communities face rough challenges that exceed the police service resources available. The essence of civilianisation is to help assist in boosting neighbourhood security and community services. Expanding the assistance of sworn personnel relieves the policemen of duties that do not relate to policing.

 There is the deployment of advanced technologies and artificial intelligence in solving policing matters. It ensures that policies are available to promote the experience of the most qualified employees to critical managerial duties.

Civilianisation helps curtail victimisation rates. It provides specific counselling expertise involving both domestic quarrels and other offenses. It helps divert delinquents and reduces the activities of recidivism. It has aided the incorporation of advanced technological applications in the law enforcement field. It utilises the qualification and skills of individuals assigned to use them for their classified efforts. It has helped to share the society’s rules and values, restrains antidemocratic practices, ends brutality, and the deprivation of an individual’s right.

We all need professionalization in all aspects of life, engaging and redeploying highly technical personnel to deliver the best skillsets. Civilianisation will help promote diversity in the security framework, increase mobility and promote opportunities for people with specialised roles. It will also help reduce policing salaries paid to sworn officers. It has helped to boost police performance and productivity. It helps to curb up any rising conflict that may destabilise an environment.
